I work for a large company in south africa and whenever the Telkom line to Namibia goes on the blink we are cut-off. If you know of any other ISP / Connection to Namibia other than the Telkom line then please let me know here.

We are currently using UUNET as a service provider in Namibia. There surely has to be some kind of DR to that country. Thanks a lot

UUNet/MCI/IAfrica has been taken over by Verizon.

Unfortunately Namibia isnt connected to SAT-3 which runs along the west coast of Africa.

Try running a traceroute to your main SA branch and see where the latency problems could be. Average latency for me from the UK is 500ms.

Also it might be worth phoning up Verizon and threatening to move to their competition. In turn Verizon should jump on telkom to sort out their physical lines, if there are problems with them. http://www.verizonbusiness.com.na/ is their website.

Last but not least, get your techies to take a close look at your VPN gateway/connection, there might be a way to make it more robust/stable.
