So I got up around 2am this morning , fire up YouTube and I then spot a video in my recommendationed stream about Fibre Installations in Cape Town. What catches my eye though is the colour of the ducting pipes. I've seen them around in my neck of the woods. Watch the video and find out that Linked Africa are the ones using that colour ducting tubes.

So I Google them and to my astonishment my area is seems to be covered, search my address and find out that I'm 315m from the nearest connection and the only feasible connection is a business account for R10,000. :crying: even places 15m from existing fibre lines only offered business packages

Do more googling find out that Vumatel bought most of their FTH business but not all. I see Cool Ideas still offers packages for Link Africa. So I sent them an email to see if anything can be done because on my road alone there is a least a dozen homes that will switch to fibre and at least a dozen more between the existing fibre connection and my road.

Nah most of Link Africas network now is for Business use, not so much home use anymore. They do have a small FTTH footprint still.

Sad thing is if I made the effort to find out which company was installing the fibre lines last year instead of assuming it was Telkom. I could of had Fibre. Oh well live and learn
