LinkedIn, eHarmony face data breaches

Social networking site LinkedIn and online dating service eHarmony warned that some user passwords had been breached after security experts discovered scrambled files with passwords for millions of online account...

Oh no, my 40 character unique password may have been compromised, meaning people can see job offers of mine and similar! Oh noez!

Some people do actually re-use passwords and email addresses :(

For the record, I never click on those links in emails. If something says I have a contact request, I login in manually if I have an account there, not via the link.

My account was locked down and I had to do a password reset. Luckily I do not re-use passwords, but still many do.

As for turning this into a laughing matter, not cool! One of those many compromised may have your personal details or like. So not something to be sneered at. Also access to data you normally only share with trusted people may make you a target for spear phishing.

Please alert your friends and contacts.
