Linking dstv decoder models

Hi, I am hoping one of the technologically advanced people on this site can help an amateur like me....

I have an old model dstv decoder (model 933) and want to get a second decoder and link them through my account (an extra R50 or R60 a month) to be able to watch 2 different channels of my package in separate rooms....

(I know, get a duel-view or PVR.... But I am strapped for cash)

A friend at work wants to sell his dstv decoder, model 990 for a good price.

Are these two decoders compatible for what I want to do? And would I need 2 smart cards to be able to link them?

No they are not only the new 1110 decoders can be linked.

No it won't work. The only single view decoders that are capable of being linked (called xtraview) are the 1110 and its replacement the 1131.
