I created a page using google pages through wozaonline.co.za. Recently vodacom has offered to sponsor the first 10000 domains. I now have my own domain (in-the-black.co.za) which is still considered a google page.

I now want to link it to google apps, to effectively create my own gmail. ie. [email protected] however I have a problem in verifying my site. (one of the required steps)

My google page does not allow me to upload html files. I cannot place a metatag in the required place. Another option is that I must place a TXT. I have e-mailed vodacom and asked them how to do this, but I have had no response.

Any ideas?

Yes, many ideas!
That is a painful step sometimes.

In the google page editor just add the html to the top.

Google has a ****e load of resources to help you out with this.

I have done it a few times and each time i battle!

you can also create an analytics account and add that code into your page.
You then use that account to verify the app account,.

I created a google analytics accounts, but I cannot paste the code on my site because I don't have access to the "head" section.

You can do this on the DNS side. There are instructions in the Google help / directions whatever.
You get the verification code and add an "Auth record" (not sure if that's what it's called, can't remember) to your SOA (Er, start of authority. But you already knew that, right?)
Then when Google tries to verify they pick up the Auth record and you're good to go. Pretty easy, you may need to send a coupla mails or sit on the phone with your DNS host for a while, though.
Anyway, I've always found this much easier than trying to go the website metatag etc. route.
P.S. Done it this way like 4 times with different domains - it works.

This is what they told me

Thank you for reaching us.

I understand you would like to integrate your domain with Google Apps.
Please be informed that currently this service is not available as your
custom domain is currently a free service
sponsored by Vodacom, our local partner.

The following is the disclaimer by Vodacom
(refer to http://www.vodacombusiness.co.za/wozadomain_register):
- Free domain is not activated for use of any other value added service
such as email, Google apps, domain transfers, ftp, hosting etc.

So please contact Vodacom via 0821930 should you need add-on services such
as business email (not via Google Apps) or Cpanel access. Kindly note that
extra charges may be incurred as it is not included with the free domain
package.

Regarding your query about domain transfer, Google currently only works
with Vodacom as our local partner and hence does not support other
providers to link with Google Sitebuilder. Please read more about our
terms and conditions here:
http://www.wozaonline.co.za/terms

Once again thank you for your kind patience and apologies for any
inconvenience caused.

Best Regards,
Anita

Doesn't sound right. Never used Sitebuilder, but Google services will work with any DNS provider, obviously.
SO it looks like what they're actually saying is they won't add any records to their free domains. (Vodacom that is)
Why don't you move the domain? It's only 100 bucks to register a .co.za and 50 bucks a year renwal.

Where is the best place to register a domain? and will it be possible to keep my website content? or will i have to redo it?

Well your DNS should have no bearing on your website content, but who knows what's the deal with that weird Vodacom thing you've got going.
Any ISP can register and host your DNS for you. Alternatively, if you wanna do it yourself, go to co.za. Else use your adsl ISP. Guys like SA Domains are also pretty cheap.

Pretty stupid that a google initiative can't use google's mail seeing you can use google mail with any other domain registrar if you registered the domain yourself. Then again Vodacom business is in it to make money. If anyone could easily switch then they would not have offered the domain special in the first place.
