Has anyone seen something like this before:

I got a new Linksys WAG120N today but after setting it up and connecting to my ADSL line I get line sync but it never connects. However, if I plug in my old Linksys WAG200G it connects without problems.

In the log file the problem appears to be no response to the PADI requests the modem is sending.

Is it possible this is just a faulty unit out of the box or could there be an issue with Telkom?

Are you using the
1) same filter & cables?
2) VPI/VCI setting of 8/35, with RFC 1483 (LLC/SNAP bridging) under the WAN/PPPoE configuration?
3) correct ISP credentials under the WAN/PPPoE configuration?

I'm not sure if the modem would allow you to pick between the ADSL modes (like G.DMT, ADSL2+, etc.)? If it does, make sure that both ADSL2+ (or G.DMT.bis+) and G.DMT options are enabled.

Thank you, that helped. I changed the VPI/VCI and ADSL mode settings from autodetect to the values you gave and it worked. Strange that the old linksys could accurately autodetect these settings and this one couldn't.

Your help is much appreciated.

Now if only multicast worked over the wireless of this damned thing. Gone are the days when Linksys made quality gear.
