Linksys WMP54G - Windows picks up?

This card was installed on my Win XP machine - but no Linksys software was installed with it. The actual Windows wireless picked up the networks and everything was done through there.

I've taken out the card, installed it on another machine - but Windows won't pick it up until I've installed the Linksys software.

What could I have done initially so that I didn't need the software?

There should be a folder on the install CD called x:\driver or something similar. Go to device manager and update the driver from a local location and point to the CD.

That should install it without the Linksys software although I usually use the vendors software. Find I get a more reliable and better signal for some reason.

Interesting ... I'll have to compare both signal wise when I'm home. I just didn't want another program to load and have another item in my taskbar
