I recently bought a linksys WRT54GL wireless router and have set it up with my existing Billion 5102 ADSL modem. Everything works fine, but its not set up as per the suggested setup instructions or setup wizard.

The linksys router was unable to connect to the internet when I plugged my Billion modem into the 'internet' port of the router. I have tried setting my modem to bridged and router modes - neither works.

So currently I have my modem running as it was before (routed mode, PPPoE) plugged into an ethernet port of my router. Its working... but I'm not convinced I'm fully utilising the linksys router this way.

Could anyone tell me how I can get the router to establish an internet connection when my modem is plugged into the 'internet' port? And why this is any better than the way I have it set up now...?

Thanks

well it depends on your BILLION modem, all you would be doing by pluggin your billion modem into the linysys wan port and letting the linksys establish the pppoe connection, billion must be in bridge mode, is infact letting the linksys do the billions job.

So you need to look at all the options the billion has and see if the linksys is better for handling the internet connection, the billion is probably better tho.
