I have bought a Linksys WRT54GS to replace my current Telkom Wireless Marconi router. I did a straight swapout of cables i.e. telephone cable into Internet slot, network cable into network port. So basically it is PC to router via LAN, router to Internet via telephone connection. Nothing inbetween. I can see and configure the Linksys via IE, but it doesn't connect to the Internet. PPPoE is configured for MWEB, and the settings appear to be the same as my Telkom router.
What I have noticed is as well that when I plug in the Linksys, it kills off my home telephone as well i.e. there is no dial tone on the lines. This does not happen with the Telkom router. The home phone lines do have the necessary filters installed.
Can anyone help here?
