Challenging gameplay takes you through rushing swarms of furious enemies in every battle. The winning requires intellegent branching of technology researches and all the variety of tactics you can employ.

Multiplayer over LAN and Internet is also available in the game.

  • Multi-player over LAN and Internet
  • Multi-platform:
    • Windows
    • Linux

Release Plans

At the moment the game is at the end of production stage: release on Windows and Linux is planned for June 2011. OilRush will be distributed digitally on PC and PSN.

Pre-Order

The game is available for pre-ordering in the official Unigine Online Store.

What we need is a proper D3D / DirectX re-implementation for Linux. Despite for buggy graphics I’m usually getting better performance from Ubuntu than from Windows XP / 7. Not to mention less compatibility issues with Wine than with Windows 7 (for older games).

It wont happen in the free versions of Linux, MS will never allow this, hence OpenGL. Have you tried Cedega? Said to be the next best thing since DX9?

Cedega is paid for software, right? Something in me just rebels against paying for a game and then paying again to play it...

Yup, they pay MS royalties for the use of DirectX (amongst other MS libraries), and you pay them to use that DirectX implementation for the game you want to play.

TransGaming is pleased to announce the continued development of Cedega Technology under the GameTree Developer Program. Although the current Cedega Gaming Service will be retired, Cedega as a technology for the Linux gaming community will continue to be available as an active and invested toolset within the GameTree Developer Program. The current Cedega Gaming Service will be available for active Members until February 28, 2011, after which time a free GameTree Dev ID will be required to gain access to the Cedega powered Linux desktop technology through the GameTree Developer Program. More information can be found here.

Hang on a moment... I seem to remember reading an article a couple months ago on a different means of implementing the bridge between OpenGL and DX function calls.

Damn, now I have to go find the article again or its going to bother me the whole evening...
