Hi Forumites,
I've been using Linux (only Ubuntu 12.04 LTS), ever since it came out, 6 - 8 months and am very impressed with the stability, security & ease at which it runs on my 10 year old Laptop....Intel 1.8MHz, 2GB Ram & 60GB Hdd...
I'm in the process of building a similar (or better) Desktop for my G/Daughter, age 11 - because I'm also impressed at the number of educational packages (free) one sees, when you view the Ubuntu Software Center. I personally use Stellarium - free constellation S/W, trying to update my meagere knowledge of the Universe.
However, I'm slightly confused because upon Googling "Linux educational S/W" I see a lot of mention is made of Kubuntu as the defacto educational O/S...don't know if I phrased that corrrectly?
So, my question is should I load Ubuntu or Kubuntu for the main O/S & will I have same access to Ubuntu Software Center for their free packages....Caramba! I just found out now, there's Edbuntu also available...
OK! so which is best to use? Thanks!
