linux is dead?

Even if that were true (which I seriously doubt), no self respecting Linux user would want to install Microsoft's malware let alone pay good money for the associated licences or support.
Yeah I agree, I will believe it when I see it.

Now let's say they did release it, I would actually consider it, sadly there are still documents that just don't view correctly in LibreOffice, and having the whole office at work use M$ Office, it kinda makes sense, at least more sense than running it via CrossOver like I currently do.

I used Microsoft Office on Linux since 2005 thanx to projects like Crossover Office & Wine.

Think it would be better if Microsoft add to the WINE project or to code Office to support it better than releasing a native version. Would be less strain on resources and you do not have to code things twice so to speak.

It would also help you keep your customers without giving Linux the official "Thumbs up" so to speak.

I'm not sure they will be keen to help out on WINE. WINE is code that can potentially lure people away from Windows by running their favourite app on Linux. It will make more business sense to rather have a native app with closed code than supporting a "dangerous" open source project like WINE.

IIRC MS have been saying for years now that they plan to release a Linux version of Office. If I have time I'll try and dig up older articles.

Good for you, but I prefer not to have to resolve to projects like that, just means an extra cost, an extra layer of something that can go wrong, and extra cpu cycles wasted, and extra memory wasted.

Now you just sound like john carmack, and honestly while I respect is talented skills for coding, I don't respect him at all for the things he has been saying lately. So maybe I will also not respect what you say anymore.

I doubt this will ever happen, I just don't see M$ supporting wine, and further more, they can just use the excuse it is not a supported platform. When a business goes to M$, they will buy the support to use M$ office on Linux, because it would be a supported platform then.

If Microsoft ever does release an "M$ Office suite" for Linux/Android, I suspect it would be the cloud-based version of Office with very little intelligence on the client side (but still enough bugs to keep people paying for upgrades).
