As the title says, I am trying to install Linux Mint on my laptop but this has got to be the most difficult OS installation that I have had to live through...

I changed my drive settings from UEFI to legacy as my USB drive (I'm installing from the flash drive) is not detected in UEFI.

I plan on installing the OS on a raid 0 array which includes 2 SSDs.

I open GParted on the live run and create an msdos partition table for my array.

I select "install Linux mint", next, next, next.... It asks me if I want to unmount partitions that are in use? This is for my Flash drive. I select "no".

I select "erase disk and install Linux mint and next. I select install now.

I get the following popups:

Can someone please help.

I'm typing this from my phone so forgive me if I am unclear.

Why are you making an MSDOS Partition for the array?

The file system should be that of what you want Ubuntu to use, so preferably Ext4.

Do I need to select anything here? I'm fairly new to this and I just want to play around and eventually move over to Linux once I'm solid.

You shouldn't need to use Gparted at all.

Just use the installation wizard installer.

Through the bios.

I tried with and without gparted and still got the error with the question marks.

Linux don't like that. Disable in bios and set it up via live boot CD/usb. Don't choose "install linux". It's one of the other options there. Sorry, I'm not more help. Not at home now.

Ok I decided to ditch the raid setup. I'm installing on a single drive now and it seems to be working. Thanks
