Linux on a phone

I have a Samsung i780 running wm6.1. Is there a version of Linux that I can load on the phone? Windows is pi$$ing me off. Buying a new noteook end of jan. Guess what Im doing first on it, clean install of Ubuntu.

I know guys were attempting this with their iPaq's years ago, maybe look at Android. TBO it doesn't sound like a good idea.

If it is not well documented on the internet then I would not try it.

I loaded Linux on my old K-Jam, but like I said, if it is not well documented then it is not worth the risk.
