Linux that looks like OSX

Probably not copyright, but probably patent infringement. Its unlikely that this team could have avoided all of the millions of apple patents.

Absolutely copyright infringement. Hope they get sued into the ground.
But that aside, it might look good, but it's still linux. Lipstick on a pig and all that

People have been trying to make linux look like OSX for ages. This is not the first time. Nothing will come from it

looks like a cheap imitation, like realllllllly cheap throw in trash cheap, for Linux the ubuntu UI still shines.

I had Ubuntu Linux on a desktop. Then I got a MacBook and stopped using the Ubuntu machine completely. Loaded Solaris 11 on it the other day.

For me, OSX has killed Linux. Now OSX is free. I don't see any point to Linux now, especially on the desktop environment. Ironic really. Since the Linux crowd have always viewed Microsoft has their greatest competitor.

I suppose its okay for an OSX clone, but personally I find OSX to be hideous. But different strokes for different folks.

Theres also a version of Linux made to look like windows. Just as ugly.

Lol, they have even stolen their icons. I've seen many Linux Mac OS themes but this one takes the cake.

I'm an OSX user, it's true that it gives me little reason to use Linux and I do DTP so need adobe. But Apple are not making their hardware upgradeable anymore and due to costs I will inevitably have to ditch the ecosystem one day in favour of Linux.

You can theme any linux to look like osx and to behave like it to a certain degree.

nope, being an apple user, it is a very closely controlled ecosystem, I've been down that road before. UI can be mimicked but not the UX.

I like Linux, but somehow this sad copy of OS X cheapens it.

I just tried it out for the fun of it on a vm. It's actually quite well put together. Prefer the faux-Mac OS look to Ubuntu's default look. Would probably not use it all the time though.

I guess so :roll eyes:

Either way, what I love about Linux lies mostly beneath the DE, but if I have to pick a favourite it tends to be a toss up between KDE and GNOME; this one won't cut it.

OS X still requires (relatively expensive) Apple hardware.

No it doesn't. All you need is a similarly specced PC, the OS X app from the app store, Chameleon bootloader, one or two custom kexts and you have a fully functional Mac clone. It will never look the same, obviously, but spec-wise, will either match or beat a mac in terms of hardware ability - depending on how good you are at choosing the hardware of course. SO Linux that looks like OS X, but is'nt, is pointless.

Of course, you will be breaking Apple's EULA by building your own Mac-chine, but they don't exactly discourage the 'hackintoshers'. Mavericks has a kext authentication system in place which flags any kext which does not have the digital Apple stamp of approval on it. But, the system includes a white list of kexts which will not be flagged. 80% of them being common well known 'hackintosh kexts.'
