OK, I am still on Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I read too many threads of very unhappy Lion users after the initial Lion release. I am pretty happy with SL, but the new shiny Lion is winking, especially with 10.7.2 now out with iCloud (will probably get an iPhone 4S in feb when I can upgrade) - so iCloud might come in useful as well.

SOOOO, my question to all on Lion - are you happy with it?

My one issue is that I use my iMac together with an external display - it seems it is only a problem when going full-screen in apps(the 2nd display is then "greyed-out"), which I don't really see myself doing too often.

Any opinions welcome!

Got 10.7.2, the Grey screen you talk about is present, but you can drag windows from the application that is in full screen mode to the second display. Its not a big deal...
I haven't had any major issues with it, there are some things like launchpad which can be a bit strange, but I generally don't use it simply because I am stuck using a standard usb mouse, its great if you have a trackpad with multitouch.

I've had no problems. The "natural" scrolling works better with a trackpad than a mouse, but after a while you get used to it and it is all the other computers that feel unnatural. And you can turn it off.

I did switch the scrollbars back on.

A handful of apps that stopped working, mostly things like Mac the Ripper that were ahem, edging on to the dark side of the force anyway. No more Rosetta, not even as an optional install.

iCloud will be useful to me when iWork for Mac gets an update and joins in the syncing fun. Right now it only syncs docs between iOS gadgets.

I find myself in fullscreen more often than I had anticipated. iTunes is running in FS permanently, Mail and Safari spend a lot of time there too.

I love the gestures. Switching between multiple desktops with a simple swipe is awesome. I have been very impressed by Lion, but I only used SL for a very short period of time, so did not have much of a learning curve.

Thanks a lot for all the feedback guys!

Seems like 10.7.2 has improved things a lot. I just couldn't get used to the mouse and flogged it. Using a Logitech wireless mouse and no track-pad, so gestures are wasted on me :-). So will Launch Pad be as well, I use Alfred/Spotlight to launch apps (the ones not in my Dock) and is more than happy with it - will probably remove the Launchpad icon and just never use it.

Once my internet connection is up again (thanks Telkom - eish) will download Lion and start the install. I did a complete clone with CCC and have full Time Machine backups, so hoping all will go well :-)

PS: It actually begs the question - for a mouse-only user, are you losing out on a lot of functionality? Not "nice to have, it's so cool" type of functionality, but actual productivity functionality, i.e. are there things you can ONLY do with gestures that you can't duplicate with the mouse and/or hot corners?

Well, most of those gestures are supposed to be possible with a Magic Mouse, but I hated the thing from day 1. The Magic Trackpad works for me, though.

I love lion. I just have the reopen windows thing. Does any one know how to turn this off?

Love the gestures with the trackpad!

The design for multiple monitors is terrible; clearly they were only focused on air type laptop (i.e. limited space)
The remainder is great.

How have third-party apps managed to work with Lion? I will buy a new mac soon. My current Mac (mid 2007 - which still runs way faster than any mid-2007 windows laptop ;) ) has Snow Leopard so I will migrate. I am just hoping all my 3rd P apps will still work.
