I have none. But others have from what I have seen. Let's consolidate them into one place.
 
i think most of the fears are media related.

Our media can make even a poodle seem like a dragon.

I do not think JZ is going to be bad,

it seems like all the "fears" are spread from the rumor mill.

I get scared because some one else is worried, and so forth.

this will be a interesting thread, as i expect there is very little to actialy be a afraid of.

barring coruption trail, and rape trial.

what else is there
 
I wonder how Mbeki will react to this: will he accept it or will he escalate the legal campaign against Zuma?
 
You guys are aware that industrialists still run the country and the President is only a Public pwn right ?

Nope

This country is currently pushing very hard on the ecconomy. The top guns running this country is industrialists. If it wasn't for them we would have been in Zim2 already
 
My fear is who is going to pay for all the promises he made about freebie houses and freebie jobs to the poor etc.

There is only one source of money to the Government: The Taxpayer - both corporate and individual. Be prepared for a doubling of taxes - direct, indirect,property - during the next few years.

Otherwise, crime can't get much worse, rolling blackouts are bad and there is not much difference between a blackout every week or every day to business. AIDS can't get worse. Hospitals can't get worse. Corruption can't get worse. Police can't get worse. Speedcops can't get worse. The courts can't get worse. Telkom can't get worse. Neotel can't get worse. The cellphone cartel can't get worse. The banks can't get worse. The roads are bad enough.

Actually all of the above can go worse - but what is the difference between a lousy police service and a very lousy one? Or a dirty hospital and a very dirty one?

Oh, hang on, so it is OKAY to have a president who has been accused of rape?

I bet you wouldn't be prepared to work with someone accused of rape, or have your kids taught by someone accused of rape, but then I guess when it is quite likely the next president of the country who is accused of rape he isn't going to be "that bad"?

South Africa is the rape capital of the world. Shall we further prove that by having an accused rapist in office? This country has gotten to a point where I don't think it can bounce back. Say goodbye to your last vestiges of democracy.

U sound like some one who has already given up in SA. I would find it stupid if u were still living in SA.

Yes it is, he was accused not convicted. He had a fair and open trial and was cleared of all charges.

Back to the point...

My biggest current fear is JZ's lack of respect for the freedom of press. That could be the biggest hurdle in the way of democracy

I gave up on SA a long, LOOOONG time ago. But don't worry, I will be out of this sh*thole soon enough so I no longer interfere with your naive misguided patriotic optimism.
 
Will give a presidential pardon to his long time friend and supporter Shabir Sheik. If this happens - will be a huge slap in the face to an already fragile justice system.

U sound like a very bitter person atm. Were u a victim of crime or something - if I may ask?
What were ur expectations in SA after 1994?

Any country with a strong economy has a lot less to worry about, this is not unique to South Africa.

While your comment regarding the industrialist may have some truth to it, Zuma would not have received this vote if this was 100% true.

Except that no south african in line to be president has been found guilty of rape.

I don't think that Zuma is the greatest prospect, but lets be honest about what he is and isn't. He may have shown dubious judgement, and that may not make him the most suitable person for the job, but he is not guilty of rape.
 
My concern is that he, Zuma, lacked the discretion to make a proper decision regarding his involvement with the "alleged" rape victim i.e sleeping with someone whom he knew was HIV+. Also, he consorted with a convicted criminal - guilty by association (one is known by the company that you keep).

Now, I'm not going to dwell on those instances, because that would be petty, but on the the implications of such conduct. If his lack of discernment/discretion is pretty constant, then I fear for the kind of decisions that he'll make as president of the ANC, and even worse, as president of the country.

Now, feel free to attack that statement :)
