Listing Telkom ISP on Hellkom - yay or nay?

I've had an enquiry as to why Telkom's ISP services aren't listed on Hellkom and my basic answer was because Telkom has enough business & it's important that the public knows who else is out there.

Does anyone think Telkom should be listed on Hellkom? Personally seeing that Telkom made R4.5 billion profit I think there is no need to list them on Hellkom.

I think you should. It would also strengthen your legal position against Telkom.

MAD's Advocate: "Look Your Honour, Hellkom links Telkom as an ISP. The site is not biased against Telkom!"

Perhaps Telkom could cross link Hellkom as a gesture of good will.

Maybe a Poll would be more democratic. RPM what you say?

I was the one who emailed you about this *runs away for fear of being flamed*

My reasoning is this (as BTTB stated): it would give you some leverage against legal action from Telkom i.e. "look, my site is independent and I have nothing against Telkom, look I even have them listed on my ISP list"

Also, in all fairness, they are an ISP (an anti-competitive one nonetheless) and,even though they make much more profit on their R249 than any of the other ISP's do, as they resell the accounts, maybe we should give them a chance now that (well almost now that) they are going to have *gasp* competition.

Don't get me wrong, I think what Telkom have done to this country is awful, but in the spirit of democracy I think they should be listed

Even though I despise Telkom I tend to agree with the others. It says a lot about you and your site and may have some legal benefits. Might not be a bad idea to explain why you list them in a FAQ on the site.

Do you not think Telkom makes enough money & that other ISP's should rather get noticed.. Telkom have the most internet subscribers in the country at the moment.

I tend to agree with BTTB. Put them on the list but link the page to something else, maybe A page that warns that you would be supporting a very unworthy cause... and then redirects to their site. (kidding)

In all fairness, and without sinking to Telkom's level, they are a service provider. If someone comes to your site and does decide to go to Telkom, then so be it, they get what they deserve.

Maybe the policy should be ... Any ISP that ASKS to be listed gets added ... this removes your responsibility issue .. basically include a link saying "Add an ISP" onto the site ...

Mad, did all the ISP's listed contact you? If they did, I change my tune (sorry, didn't read that clause) Telkom, just like all the other ISP's should contact you if they wish to be listed
