hey guys,

with no regards to price is the gtx260 or the 4870 better... the default models (no extra ram, no overclocking etc.)

Thanks

GTX260, it takes on and in most cases beats the 4890. I've had the EVGA GTX260, MSI GTX260 WinFrozr and an XFX 4890 and the best of them all by a decent margin was the TwinFrozr.

Clock for clock at stock the GTX260 is much better than the 4870 whether it's the 192 or 216 core. Guaranteed.

A 4870 will beat a 192sp gtx260. But a 216sp 260 will beat a 4870 1gb handily. And as juggy said, a twin frozr will beat a 4890. I doubt a stock 260 would beat a 4890 - real life benchmarks are not the same as 3dmark - but a twin frozr will do it.

i also wanted one
but now i cant chooze
but im biased to nvidia
but ati = amd... amd > intel

so im also confuzzled:cry:

It's really a no brainer Gtx 260 216 FTW
Nah, 4890 @ 900mHz or 1ghz FTW, also 5770 is very nice.

Why is amd > intel? Size-wise Intel > AMD. Performance wise Intel > AMD. Bang for buck Intel=AMD, maybe AMD is a little better sometimes. And ATi recently have been much more innovative than nVidia.

I wouldn't say the radeon gets slapped silly. It's a few FPS slower in some games, and a few FPS faster in some others. It's a bit cheaper than the GTX 275 so I'd say they're well matched.

192sp260<512mb4870<216sp260<48701gig

At stock obviously.

If the options are all out there in the same price range I would say 2nd hand 5770 for the DX11. Those cards really are good value for money especially if you can get a Hawk edition.

Well the 4870 isn't being made anymore, only the 4890, which competes well with the GTX 275. As does the 5770.

I had the same isue this month
But had problems getting the GTX 260 wanted the card real bad at the end i took the 5770 and i am really happy with it
The guy that i would have gotten the card from said there were issues on the asus gtx 260 series so just check into it maybe

I thought there was a gap between the gtx 260 and the 4870 (with the gtx 260 being better) so I'm glad I asked... but i guess they're pretty close,

but is this gtx 260 better than the Xfx 4870 512.

im not sure 'bout the 5770... it seems like the mediocre DX11 option. I was hoping to go higher end when I got a DX11 card... 58** or GTX4**
