I will be getting adsl soon, And my brother in law in england is selling his xbox, but still has about a year of live left, He said he will just let me play on his live account. Question is, Will he be able to transfer his account to my existing gamer tag, or will i have to play under his gamertag?

you will have to play using his gamertag,

which means he will get all the achievements you unlock

yeah I agree, I can only imagine they did it to

1. Stop theft/fraud of gamertags
2. Make more money

I've never heard of anyone doing it, but you could try calling Microsoft and beg, plead and offer sexual favours for them to transfer the remainder of his live subscription over to your account.

You never know, you might get lucky.

you can always rename his gamertag for 800 points cost to you and take it over from him

Just take his gamer tag then change it. Costs a few microsoft points. Some people on my friends list change their gamer tags nearly every month
