Hi All,

Not sure where to post this, but my wife has been having major hassles the last 3-4 days trying to access this site. I have tried from home and work with no luck - both on IS connections, unshaped, uncapped. Her friends overseas confirm that it is not the site, so how do I identify if it is the connection or something else?

All other international sites seem to be fine, excpet the odd US site - either will not load "cannot find page" or extremely slow loading - max 8b/s! Is is possible that the ISP/Telkom/IS/whoever is heavily shaping the international pipe - even on an unshaped account?

I have had the ADSL line checked - no problems
Have called the ISP - no problems
Checked the site with other overseas people - no problems
Rebooted modem - same problem
Tried dial-up - works fine at 4.6kb/s
Is it just SA ADSL again?

Any advice???
Could a few SA people try and log onto www.livejournal.com and click a few links to pages to see if you can access, then advise me if you are able to get into it... not sure what else to do?

Cheers
HB

Seriously offtopic. What are the advantages of using LiveJournal over say, blogspot?

I have phpProxy running on a box I run (offsite), which I use to get around some of the IS problems. If you have access to some webspace that supports php, you just google for it, then upload and browse away.

Failing that, you can try places like http://www.proxyeye.com/. Its a bit slower cause its a public service, but it should help if you can access their site.

Hope that helps.

Many thanks for the replies - I have tried proxyeye and it seems to help a bit. Had a shout at IS too and also seemed to help a bit - I will see how it goes over the next day or two.

Cheers
