LIVERPOOL'S 8-0 win Turkish club Besiktas last month is being investigated as part of a probe into match-fixing, according to reports in Europe today.

British newspaper the Daily Mail says the Champions League result at Anfield is considered suspicious because of irregular betting patterns.

And German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung claim there was "frenzied betting on a high-score victory'' before the match.

UEFA, the governing body of European football, have made no contact with Liverpool and officials at Anfield told the Daily Mail they knew nothing about a probe.

Besiktas players admitted to being "ashamed' after the match on November 6, when Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun scored three of the eight goals.

But the German reports suggest Besiktas players, on a fraction of the salaries earned by Liverpool stars, could have been targeted by Asian betting syndicates.

The Daily Mail report said UEFA were working with Europol, the pan-European police force, to look at money laundering, match-fixing and illegal betting in football.

William Gaillard, UEFA's director of communications, told the newspaper an InterToto Cup game between Makedonija and Cherno More in July was the only game being officially investigated but others were considered suspicious because of irregular betting patterns.

liverpool romped some team 4-0 this weekend and it could have been 8-0

maybe in the besiktas game the goals went in, where as the game on the weekend i dont know how some stayed out
