Does anyone know if you can set Llama events to send an sms at a pre-determined destination?
 
Want so send a sms at a certain time? or at a certain location?
 
The area would need to be a predefined one would it not? And there is an option to open messaging under applications inside actions. There is also an option to run an app shortcut. But I have little idea how you will use all of these together to send an message as you reach a specified point.

I am battling to think of a circumstance though where it would not just be easier to send the message yourself. Unless you are thinking of a hijack scenario...

E.g. when you need to collect someone daily. When at location x send sms "I am here"...

Fair enough. Still think a quick call would be easier in that situation. An SMS might only be seen late if the person is in the kitchen and the phone is in the bedroom (for example).

Exactly this. But only a bit different.. Our complex uses an SMS system to open, so sending as I enter an area will open the gate without me getting out my phone and sms'ing.
 
Not too sure that its a good idea to open gates with tho, you might be driving in the area and opening the gate at random.

I immediately thought of another scenario too. You get robbed, they steal your phone and drive off in your car, as they get to the gates it conveniently opens for them... there goes your security.

The problem with Llama is that it does not use GPS either so the area is rather wide that would be regarded as being home.
 
Actually even more inconveniently, while inside the house if Llama triggers the action it will pick up that you are in the area (bearing in mind the wide area covered by a cellphone tower) and will open the gate...
 
One possible solution is the "Require confirmation" option under advanced...
