Hey guys, came across this app yesterday. Link It is very useful to me and I thought others might think so too. Basically you define locations, the phone uses coarse locations so as not to chow battery. You can then have it trigger off actions based on events. I have my phone set to enable silent while at work and when at home late at night, also set to disable wifi when I'm at home as sadly I can't get to the wifi AP from my office at work. Currently playing with disabling background sync when not on WIFI, to conserve battery and data usage.

Tried it a while back and went back to my Tasker, bit confusing at first but way more useful.

Looks very interesting thanks. I want the 2G/3G toggle, but I don't want to give up my Sense interface by installing CyanogenMod.

Then use tasker, it works within your own interface and root only seldom required.

Sadly Tasker also requires a custom rom for the 2G/3G toggle. My office has very poor signal and I would love a profile that could toggle down to 2G when at work. I think maybe I should just take the plunge and get rid of Sense, I have already moved away from their keyboard (started using SwiftKey X) and I am sure I can substitute their widgets.

I actually never had and never liked sense, it was the reason i chose the nexus s over the dhd. Tried swiftkey but its annoying, i could not find the disabled stupid help words on top function so i opted for better keyboard rather, other reasons why its better, tried every keyboard i could find and it was actually the only one that was better.

I don't use tasker for automation, more just for the profile switching as without GPS enabled my house and my office fall into the same radius so they profiles end up conflicting and their is the odd occasion when i work at home so using the timed setting is not as effective.

Personally it would be a waste to get one of these apps if that's all you really need as thier is a much nice one then that will let you do it manually via a widget, Extended controls allows you to make custom controller widgets, so you can add what ever system options you want, be it wifi, 3g/2g toggle, gps, auto sync, mute, reboot, data, bluetooth, batter, brightness, media storage, stay awake, few dozen other options and you can get a theme that will amtch in nicely with the sense UI and no custom mods needed.

I mostly just leave it on wifi when i can, more for the huge reduction in battery drain than any cost saving.

I tried CM7 this weekend, I really don't like the way it handles contacts. Much prefer Sense, so I switched to Android Revolution HD to get my Sense interface back :) They recommended installing the 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 radio at the same time and low and behold my signal at work seems far more stable. Which kinda invalidates my need for something like this too. :) Oh and I really like swiftkey, if you are wanting to disable the suggestions then it is definitely not the keyboard for you, that is where you can gain typing speed.

True, but i hate "predictive" text, and i find it wasted space that i can use for actually seeing. Each to his own, but i would never gain speed by having it their as i would never use it. I been using touch screens since the iphone 3g so my multi-thumb type speeds pretty good and pretty accurate, once i get properly used to a keyboard i can type quite a bit without even looking, almost had it mastered when my iphone broke so word prediction becomes pretty useless when your not even looking at the screen.
