Who knows more about an exact date for the implementation these policy decisions?

If we are required to unbundle the local loop, or are unable to negotiate favorable terms and conditions for the provision of interconnection services and facilities leasing services or ICASA finds that we or Vodacom have significant market power or otherwise imposes unfavorable terms and conditions on us, our business operations could be disrupted and our net profit could decline.

The Electronic Communications Act provides that ICASA may prescribe a framework for the unbundling of Telkom's local loop, which could significantly increase competition. The Minister of Communications published policy decisions that the process of unbundling the local loop in South Africa should be urgently implemented and completed by 2011.

Apologies for resurrecting an oldish thread...

Can anyone tell me exactly how the unbundling of the LLU will impact us?

With all the new technologies around that can bypass the LLU, will Neotel really want access to the old copper network?

And at what cost? Unbundling does not mean 'free', will they then share in the cost to maintain the network?
