Load Garmin Software on two units

Hoping that some Garmin boffs can help me out with this.

My boss has 2 x Garmin NUVI 300 (new) and one copy of the Southerrn Africa Streetmap.

Battling to load the map on the two units. Can only load it on one unit.

One of the units was bought from Europe.
 
Probably need to get it formatted. Not 100% sure though. Hope someone pops in to help.
 
I am not very clued up on GPS's.

He mentioned that in order to uploaded software to the device, a registration process (on-line or telephonic) had to be completed.

Now, once you have completed it for one unit, it kicks you out when loading the software onto the other device (Error: software already in use on existing device or something to that effect)

(If this is so then it is pretty crappy cos even microsoft allows you to license multiple pc and lower cost)...

Who's the owner or the Copy right holder of that specific map ?
 
Garmin only allows one copy of StreetMaps with one hardware GPS device. GarMap maps will not work with anything but Garmin hardware. Sorry buddy, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
 
That's why you should'nt buy overseas Garmin GPS units. Streetmaps map software sets you back R2k to R2400, depending on version.
 
Thanks for the advice .... I guess there is nothing much he can do then.

Unfortunately not. He'll have to buy another copy of streetmaps, or a local Nuvi 300. Maybe he can return the one he bought overseas.
 
As already mentioned in this thread. The software can only be loaded onto the registered GPS unit. For 2 units, you'll need to buy a 2nd copy of the software. check out www.garmap.co.za for more details
