Yup, that's what I expect now.
Apparently it's a large area so an MV trip at a major substation.
 
The City of Cape Town has now upped stage 3A to stage 3B (which is effectively stage 4)

Well i have turned my servers at the office off. last time Eksdom decided to go stage 3 i lost one of them.......better safe than sorry and email can wait till the morning.....
 
Eskom done and fkced me real bad. Stage 3 but they are still shedding me on stage 2 times. Just when I wanted to get some work done.

Do you remember the old Doomsday Clock back from the USA and the Soviet Union were in a cold war a long time ago? It started out at 23:45 at no worries to 00:00 at total nuclear annihilation? Well, if we replace the no worries at 23:45 with a completely stable electrical grid and the total nuclear annihilation at 00:00 with the naional blackout that takes weeks to recover from, what time is it on the so called Blackout Clock?
 
Just got back from a range 8 day trip. Baggage is delayed and will only get it tomorrow. Load shedding 6 to 10 30 and needed to climb 6 floors of stairs. Welcome to africa

Better to be safe than sorry. You did the right thing, can never guess what they will do next.
 
I am sick and tired of this crap from city power,

On Sunday their website said loadshedding would take place in my area from 13:00 to 16:30. I unplugged my PC due to the fear it will damage my PSU at 12:45. The power never went off.


Today they said It would go off from 18:00 to 22:30, again I unplugged my PC due to the fear it will damage my PSU at 17:45. The power never went off.

Its really really inconvenient...

Africa has a certain erm...way about it. Grow a pair.

Btw you should also switch off your freezer and/or fridge. It can also go when the burst of power hit it
