Was just wondering how you guys have been explaining load shedding to your EU and UK raiding mates, as I am stuggling to find the right words to explain how F%$# up we are between this and our old friend Lag.

Ive basically stopped raiding :(

I get invited (eg for SSC), get the trash down, and rdy for the first boss
~power goes down~
ffs
3hrs later, i log back online.. they've found a replacement, so i either do dailies/log off

my GL is from Jordan and they have similair ****
jeezus who thought we would hate a company more than telkom

I have this worst case scenario in my head where U have highest dkp and vashj drops ur loot and BOOOM, bobs ur auntie, u just got load shedded

omg, u just jinx'd meh :'(

ill b doing vashj this reset... (for the quest vial)... outta the mages+locks+hunters ive got most dkp... and watch, vashj bow/t5 helm will drop

I'm in an SA guild, we're all very sympathetic and understanding :/ If Tim disappears it was either Es/Telkom...

But on the subject, I was assisting a friend in installating their ADSL (from Diginet) and the IT help is in London. Listening to her trying to explain the need for a generator was amusing, these guys in London could not understand the need :D

Been lucky so far with load shedding, its either out from 10am-1or2pm or 3pm-6pm. if that fails i have a genny at home to piss my neighbours of with :)

Was thinking of getting an UPS for my PC, these power cuts are not only off scedule, they don't bother keeping to the time as well :(

Don't UPS usually only last for about 15 minutes (enough time to say "Sorry I got no Power" and confuse the crap out of the people you are raiding with).

Depend on the size of the battery anything from 15 minutes to 24 hours :D
Prob longer aswell but the cost just escalate with duration.
I was looking for one with 400 min time, should last me through a normal raid.

You know its getting bad when you start to think of dropping 2-5k on gens and ups's just to play wow :P

Hey its for the coffee 2!

I've suspended my account until Eskom get it half right. Currently, I'm without power half of the day and most of the evening. On Tuesday I was without power for 21 hours!!! I'm seriously starting to go through withdrawals.

Now I have no internet as Telkom are having problems, battery in my electric gate konked as well due to all the load shedding, got a quote for diesel genny to run the house R55k......

time to pack for Perth or maybe the Uk and 50ms.

I bought a Genny for R5000 its a 5.5KVA , I have a lead with a plug on each end, when the power goes out all i do is switch of my mains, plug my genny into a plug socket, start the genny and my whole house lights up.

Our area is not hit hard like santon the place i work at
but if they hit my house with power shedding every day i will buy generator but i hear gas is going up again lol.

Rather put that 55k towards shipping to the UK or Perth.

Recent quote I got for a container and shipping + insurance was 75k to the UK/Europe
