Load shedding - lighting

Huh? No idea what that means. Im running one cheapy in my ceiling light in bathroom.
hahaha, so if you have loadshedding during the day, your bathroom light is on ? I bought some cheapies from Geewiz a while back and they were crap. If you touch the bottom on the bulb it lights up :P and they overheated.

The ones I mentioned from Takealot are the best I had so far.

Freaky
Added to my Wishlist, thanx a million bud

It works with continuity.

Try this, unscrew it and with your thumb and forefinger close the circuit. It should light up.

The same principle applies to your house. If ALL the circuits in your flat are open, the light won't work. All it needs is a closed circuit on your side of the DB

That's what they're supposed to do...

I have a mecer inverter and 200ah batteries. I had a sparky pull the ligths and 2 or so plugs from my Db and install on a secondary one. Tv, internet and lights don’t miss a beat during loadshedding.
What size inverter? I see 1440w mecer inverters for about R2000 upwards.

Cost for secondary DB?

Thinking of installing at a relatives.

I got the 1440w with 2 batteries, cost was about 8k a few years back. It’s probably overkill just for lights and a TV, I’ve never seen it above 50%

My friend is a sparky, he did the db board with breakers etc for 2k, I helped a bit and we had beer after!

Tried my cheapy no-name one now and yes it lights up when doing that.

But the proper ones I got don't do that.
They work just fine just like any other light and do not get hot at all.
Thanks

Told my network of these lights. If I knew of these I might have not bothered to install an inverter. LOL!

But to be fair love my ability to continue as normal during loadshedding other than oven. Which I intend to switch to gas in any case.

Do you need to manually turn these on? Or does it switch on if there is no power?

how does it know when the power is off vs when the light switch is off and when there's no power would using the light switch operate this light?

That's some weird voodoo stuff that it knows if loadshedding happened or whether you turned the switch off.
I love it
Have you tried these yourself?

For an explanation on how it works,

Apologies if I'm hijacking this thread, wasn't sure where else to post it - are there any myBB gurus out there who can suggest something cheap and reliable for remote starting a generator? I know almost nothing about electronics, but my goal is to wire my generator into the house using an auto changeover switch with a remote start because the generator will be locked away. So I've linked the things I think I might need:

Auto change over switch:

Remote starter:

Do a search of MyBB threads. Or check on powerforum OR www.energytalk.co.za

Thanks! And there I was thinking it was something to do with capacitance...

Anyway. I think the liteworx warm white are the bee's knees. Paid R99 at builders, and when they ran out managed to find 5 more ordering online from Makro.
(Cool white not so much - bad colour when live, batteries only last 20 mins... Too dim).

My question: The box says they charge even when off, can't be true, right??!
