Anybody else experiencing this?
Saturday night at 20:11 power came on for second then tripped again. Had to call eskom. They had to send out tech to switch the breaker on.

Yesterday 20:09 same story . On and off.Had to call eskom again took them hour and half to get a techi out to switch it on again.

Be That is nothing. Try waiting two fcking days for City Power to send someone to climb up the donnerse pole outside the house to switch the switch back on where it tripped for just our house.

A friend of mine in Newlands, their power went off @ 13:00 Saturday and only came back on again this morning @ 03:00. Things are going for a ball of sh*t.

Maybe they should replace the breaker ?

This is the thing about 4 month ago they switch the feed from one side to the other side.. ( we can feed from 2 places)

Talked to the tech asking why. He said When bloem trips it and switch it on again it does not go on at all.. So they already on the newer working one that is broken again :(

The system is breaking down due to loadshedding and lack of maintenance.
The cANCer breaks everything.

Tell me about it. We were going out of our minds. We did get a private electrician out that evening that it tripped cause we noticed all the houses had power except for ours so I wanted to make sure it was not something wrong with our board, but the electrian tested it and said there is no power coming in from the pole outside so it tripped there .... and no one but City Power is allowed to climb up there and flip the switch back on. After 2 days when they eventually rocked up the guy climbed up and it took him all of 30 seconds to flip it back on. Next time I swear to god I will bribe a electrician to get up there and do it.

Yes, I have had this as well (OP). Switches can't handle this.

Had that happening as well, then after it happened over and over I waited for the guy to come and switch it back on I told him. He then decided to climb on, came back got a new trip switch replace and showed me the old one. Basically burned out.

Never had a problem since that time (about 2 years ago)

The cANCer breaks everything.

And the reported ridiculous Newlands situation above?
Distribution there is controlled by the DA, who charge the highest markup for electricity in the country and therefore should have the money to deal with issues like this. So who is to blame for that?

I hate the ANC as much as the next man, but maybe its time people start facing up the the fact that our problems extend beyond just the ANC.

No, Newlands in Joburg. :)

Ah okay, my mistake then :) Though I have had similar issues down here, CoCT not as amazing as people make them out to be even though they are better than most the ANC run places.

My fault too. I should have been more clear. Just figured people would know I am talking about the Joburg one cause I live in Joburg, but Newlands in the Cape being the better known one I should have known better

The breakers get stressed from all the load-shedding and eventually fail.
They are not designed for frequent power cuts.

This round of loadshedding since December has now cost me my earth leakage breaker at home... it is faulty!

Hmm , Last Saturday power came on for about 2 seconds after the scheduled end of load shedding, and remained off for another two hours.
