I'm looking for an 'affordable' LS solution and need to run my VDSL router (exchange has had no load shedding so far), 55-inch LED TV and a Xiaomi Mi Box for 4.5 hours. I can only afford to spend R5k at the moment. Will the following setup work for my needs?

Mecer 1440W Inverter
Vision 100Ah Deep Cycle Battery

I will add another 100Ah battery in the next month or 2.

OP: That is a 24v system so 2 batteries in parallel in series or 4 batteries in total, cant have an uneven number in this array.
4 and a half hr load shedding is long, remember the system is going to run hot for a long time recharging your array, so the more batteries you add the longer the charger is going to run to get your batteries up to full capacity.
This is risky

it's where I bought my kit from a couple years ago as well.

Excellent price, shipping time and even after sales support. Had an inverter issue not far down the line after my purchase and they swapped it out for a replacement.

I asked Geewiz to join the forum. Would be great if they can.

Thanks all. Lots of good information posted. Didn't even know the difference between a 12V and 24V charger :giggle:

I got a 24V and way over estimated the Wattage I will need. You actually don't want to use more than 300-400W before having to start adding batteries and extend charging time. I think a 12V is more than enough for a small setup.

Thanks. Can I add another battery down the line to the 1st (720W) kit to increase running time?
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the great feedback!
I'm excited to help out where I can. Please understand with the load shedding, we are under extra load at the moment (pun intended :)), so if I miss/delay anything, please excuse me.
You are always welcome to email, all emails will be answered.

Re the extra battery - you can add another battery, no problem, but best to do so in the first few cycles, so that both batteries can wear/charge at the same rate, and you wont have 1 limiting the newer one

Email send. And what i've asked....

I was looking on your site at the Mecer 2400VA Inverter + 2x 105Ah battery system.
Can you please advise / quote on:

One stand alone UPS to power a laptop, monitor and wifi router. (3 Hours)

One system like the above Mecer Inverter that can be charged via solar power as well as AC power.
