Loading data bundles on an MTN contract - they should be depleted first?

I recently loaded an MTN 30 day data bundle(with day and night data) to my contract because the data was running low and I need some of the contract data for datashares. I was hoping the data bundle could be used by the datashare but apparently that is not allowed, ok too bad...

But the main contract sim is in a router and the data bundle is supposed to be used before the contract data but it's not using any of the 30 day bundle except the night data, which defeats the whole point of the exercise.

The fact that it is using the night data before the contract data illustrates the point that the bundles are supposed to be depleted before the contract data. Then again it is MTN and they are the most useless assh0les you could possibly have the misfortune to have to use

Is this normal behaviour when loading data bundles to MTN contracts?

Never used to be that way for me. I eventually got a data only sim for R399. 200GB day and 200GB night. That sim shares with my phone. As a sonsequence, my phone contract never uses its own data.

Me neither, which is why this is weird

Which package was that?
I don't know. If you walk into any MTN store they will help you. It has gone up to R420 or R430 since. They also try and sell you a mobile wifi router but you're not obligated (Used to be R30pm extra for that) to take it. My sim is in a drawer.

That's a really decent deal
