Our electricity is so weak that most of the time the microwave doesn't work, the toaster barely toasts, the fridge loses power. I've pretty much given up on hot meals in the evening.

A couple of hours without electricity followed by reasonably reliable electricity was so much better.

Sad state, but you should really consider a gas oven and hob. The hob brand is not too important, but with the oven, the more expensive the best consistent results can be had.

You need non of those to start a fire and braai.

Sounds like you have a phase out which is causing a low voltage situation.

I get this from time to time in my area, usually after a loadshedding session has broken something on the munic network.
