Hi all. My parents are looking for an internet provider in the Jeffrey's Bay area in the Eastern Cape. I just wanted to find out if Rain stays up when there is loadshedding at all? They plan to keep the Rain router on using a Gizzu UPS. Is this doable and will the internet be reliable for them to continue working even when there is loadshedding?

Most likely no due to the sell towers running out of battery in my experience rain was the first to go down

The specific 5G tower I connect to stays on during loadshedding. It wasn't the case last year as it used to go down. I think it just depends if it has backup batteries or not. If it doesn't best case scenario it just connects to a 5g tower further away with added latency but ok speeds, or switches to 3g.

It's hard to tell, you should try test it beforehand because you dont know how many towers are in the area and which ones are not in your loadshedding area.

My tower(Telkom)shuts down within 5 mins of loadshedding but vodacom is always pumping.

Is Rain up when there's no loadshedding.........

Mine is up permanently - just recently started dropping connection - just spoke to my Foster Son, says some evenings it hits a half hour cycle.

Just drops for a half minute or so, then comes back.

Happen this morning while doing internet banking payments.

It depends on their infrastructure in that area. Test it first.

My 5G would go down totally, then they added 4g fallback, now there appears to be 5G backup power also. I have an inverter setup and my internet does not drop during load shedding.
