So I recently got a fancy new GFX upgrade for my PC and wanted DX10... and went VISTA. Now everything seemed to be going great for the first few minutes until i realized my freaking Wireless wasn't working...

My problem is that I am getting Local only access and no internet access. After much research online I have tried EVERYTHING and now I turn to my favorite SA Techies for help!

What I have done so far:

  • Tried Disabling TCP/IP v6
  • Tried Setting up a Static IP
  • Tried New Drivers
  • Updated every driver on the computer :D
  • Done a ton of Repairs
  • Disabling/Reinabling Scaling
  • Installed Vista SP1
  • Updated Windows

It seems this is a pretty common problem with vista. I am running Vista Ultimate, have a Telkom 5102G Router (Billion) with a 3gig MWEB account. The wireless is also using an Open WEP encryption key.

Below is what happens when I type "ipconfig/all" into command prompt. (Bear in mind that I am hooked up by cable while posting this hence the successful connection on the Ethernet Port.

Good Luck & Thanks in advance for your Help, I for one, am completely lost on this matter... and I consider myself a techie

:)

I take it this got you sorted..?

What beats me is M$ building in this type of crippling basic disfunctionality into Vista - such that a large percentage of people open up their new Vista lappies for the first time and can't even connect to the internet to activate their lovely new OS.

This brings to about ten the number of instances of this problem I've come across - two clients of mine wanted to go back to XP or even get rid of the laptop altogether specifically because of this stupid problem. And M$ scratch their heads wondering why Vista take up is so slow...

Yes it solved the problem, my biggest issue was finding the correct GUID so I ended up modding the registry on all the GUID's :D

My biggest problems with Vista at the moment have been this, and how ridiculously slow it takes to "Calculate Delete/Move/Copy" time... wtf kind of kek is that?? why even add it to the OS if it doesnt even work? lol takes me like 18 seconds to delete an icon from my desktop lol.
