Local github and/or opensource project hosting

I don't suppose there is a local github like platform or any local opensource project hosting platforms?

I need to offload quite a substantial amount of donations (received towards our opensource projects) and was thinking about commissioning a github-like platform, plus possibly a project hosting platform.

Why would someone use it locally when github has a massive following? Assembla, Bitbucket, Github I'm pretty sure there are some I missed. Contributing towards projects on GitHub gives you international exposure which is what most developers aim for. If you are aiming for just hosting then perhaps. The company I work for hosts all their code on Assembla.

I think it is a good idea since it hasn't been done locally. Could be a good way for local devs to network, hackathons, non profit coding, social impact etc.
