I'm looking for a host with a South African data centre that will allow me to host Laravel websites easily. It's been a nightmare on shared hosts, and I use Laravel Forge for deployment. It would need to be something as similar to Digital Ocean as possible. Laravel Forge has the ability to manage a custom VPS, and it has the following requirement:

Your custom server must run a fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04 x64 and must have a root user.

So a VPS with clean Ubuntu install, nothing else, especially cPanel.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Domains VPS, you get a VPS install Ubuntu (well you can get it installed for you) and then you configure your laravel setup

+1 - I've been with them for a while now (VPS) and it's been running incredibly smoothly.

Why are there programmers out there STILL dictating what hardware/OS you need to run their software?

Is this the past?

But that's specifically Forge, which is perfectly acceptable, in my opinion. You can't have everything run everywhere...

Laravel, a PHP framework, can run on shared hosting. You require VPS with root because you use Laravel Forge to deploy?

So making it more expensive for yourself just because you refuse to use alternate (available) free utilities to do deployments?

Howzit guys!

My name is Eugene van der Merwe and I am a Certified Laravel Developer. I run a hosting business with my brother Storm and we are very proud to offer Laravel hosting as an option. What makes it special?

1. We offer SSH on those packages.
2. Composer is installed and guaranteed to work.
3. We'll assist with anything special e.g. getting cPanel to recognize document_root etc.
4. Redis is installed so queueing works out of the box. Perfect for monitoring with Horizon.

I also offer Laravel Training at https://laravelacademy.capetown/ so you can expect only the best support from us.

The benefit of shared hosting for Laravel is that you can start small and migrate to own server later when you start deploying more than a few sites. As such we have a migration path where we can deploy you 100% compatible Forge servers running in good old Teraco Johannesburg or Cape Town.

Here is a link to our VPS packages, local and international:

Hint: When signing up for a VPS for Forge, be sure to specify Ubuntu as the OS.

Please contact me if you need more information, I would love to field some Laravel hosting questions.
