Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded to 4Mbit adsl, and I primally use local only adsl, lets just say I have a certain file transfering addiction, of course I'm talking about transfering documents and such..

Now I could use my int. account but that means I can't transfer my files, and it's pretty lonely without my skype or msn.

So instead of breaking my habbit I want to use local only for chatting and possible voip.

QQ messenger does not work for me, it crashes way to much on Vista anyway, so is there anything else out there which I can use on local internet, except IRC I'm use it somethings but not exactly what I find ideal.

I am also aware that there are other threads about this and I've looked through them and googled, this is my last resort please somebody tell me you have a solution for me :)

Thanks in advance

Pidgin...
Ask someone to help you set it up (cuz I want to know as well :p)

Guide for PSI

Here is the solution:

Please note that this doesn't work using the official msn client, rather just a way to send messages, no video, audio or emoticons.

Download PSI, it can be downloaded from:
Brothersoft (works on local only bandwidth)

Secondly visit the site Jabber.co.za (guide on setting up on PSI) NOTE: This guide on the site is actually for migrating an account, you will need to set up a new one.

The steps are basically summarised bellow:
  1. Download and install PSI from Brothersoft.
  2. Open the PSI application from the shortcut on desktop or star menu.
  3. You will need an account with jabber.co.za, use the wizzard and for server enter "jabber.co.za".
  4. Register your username, leave out the "@jabber.co.za" this will be done for you, if you registered bob, then your jabber ID will be [email protected]
  5. Once sucessfully logged into Jabber.co.za, click on "General" and then on "Service Discovery"
  6. Maker sure that jabber.co.za is in the server box and click the browse button.
  7. Right click on "MSN Transport" and sellect "Register".
  8. Fill in your account details that you were suplied from Microsoft.

If you need help I can provide assistance, add me as a jabber contact "[email protected]"

Happy chatting

Some tips for downloading software on local only:
Visit this page Mylocal Google
Select search the web tick box, and in search field type "site:brothersoft.com: followed by your program name.
I have found many applications avialable for download including iTunes, IE8 etc.
