With OS 5.0 slowly being released elsewhere in the world, when can we expect VodaCom/MTN to offer official releases?

Don't think it's possible to slap an ETA on it.. Been using OS5 from an overseas vendor without any issues on my Bold - best you can do for now.

Wishful thinking dictates that it'll be soon (given the massive growth of BlackBerry in this fine country), realistically though, a long while away.

Download and install the latest update from another vendor; instructions for doing it are all over the net. It basically involves deleting a "vendor.xml" file.

How does one go about installing a new Blackberry update? Someone I know picked up a Blackberry but the phone is locked when it starts by a "Unlock code". Thought of installing a new OS on there and hopefully that will remove it.

It was just laying on the ground. What would you do?

Surely it can be traced with the IMEI or BB number? Hand it to a shop (depending on SIM inside) and let them try and trace the rightful owner. Just keeping it is just not on -what if yours were lost?

So this is the first time I'm actually posting on mybroadband. And I'm an absolute BB newbie, don't even own one yet, but will be getting the Storm 2 next month and am already a BB junkie ... but I digress.
Anyway, so I went to the Vodacom BB software update page that's listed above and the OS that you can download for the Storm 2 is this: BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.834 (All Languages) . So isn't that like very up to date? Or am I being stupid and that isn't the right file to look at?

I'm on MTN contract, can I use a Vodacom pre-paid sim card to up the firmware to V5 for my Storm2 and then continue using my MTN contract sim once the firmware is updated?
MTN delivery is so freaking darn slow.

I just mailed MTN to ask why vodacom has OS 5 out for the Bold 9000 and MTN is still on 4.6 and when we can expect MTN to offer the update.
