Does anyone know if there's a local server for Microsoft updates? I need to update MS Office 2007 and the download is over 600Mb which will will far exceed my remaining international bandwidth

Hey guys i dont feel like creating a thread for just one question...

Hashbrown if you dont mind me borrowing your thread, :D , can i ask:

If i connect to my wireless access point and manually create a ppoe connetion , which one will take preference? i.e Would the bandwidth from the account on the wireless access point be used or the bandwidth from the account i manually dialled up with?

If i go to connection settings in Internet Explorer and select the PPPOE connection, will it use ONLY that account or the Wireless Access Point Account?

Thanks

and AFAIK there is no local servers for updates

your best bet is to get someone to DL it for you and upload it to uuNet or something

You will have to take a look at the routing table:
route print

So see which route is added as default. Don't recommend it MS and two interfaces + routing = bad-news

No local server for Updates.
I downloaded a copy of SP1 for Office 2007 it was only 218Mb

I use IPCop to cache updates for other PC on the LAN
http://www.advproxy.net/update-accelerator/

I got the file size from Update itself so there is a smaller alternative at least :). So there's a way to save the update so that I can use another pc (maybe the link you provided) because I need to do this for 2 pcs.

BTW which version of office?

If the file is <300MB...give me a link.
I can get it to the local UUNET ftp server for you if you have the patience.... (It's a tad slow sometimes you see)

The link provided will cache all MS Updates, Adobe & Norton.

I downloaded the redistributable version of SP1 for Office 2007, it is not version a version of office will work with any AFAIK.
