About the 1kB's its not true if they are taking 400kbs and giving back 1kb. I know what you are trying to say but it just makes life a lot easier.. For admins, server cost etc.. Why deal with **** when u can make it hard to get in so people look after what they get..

Not many people here remember torrents.x86 but it was the best local torrent site we've had so far and it had OPEN registration but merely enforced strict ratio control. The site was an astounding success and only closed due to lack of donations/bandwidth issues.

Most public torrent sites are actually much better than the private ones. The private ones have horridly low seeding counts and are full of stuck up bastards. Public sites (such as mininova) have the grand advantage of some torrents ranging in the 10000 seed margin as well as a great open community of people that quickly warn about any fakes that pop up and confirm real downloads.

This is of course mostly opinion, my opinion at that but that doesn't change that invite only systems are the worst solution to an easily solved problem.

Im not sure if you have ever been on any of the top sites international.. you would be very amazed to how much better speed, how many more files, and how much quicker these sites are.. If you have not been on one of these top sites you cannot say what you have said.. Because it is simply not true.. And i am saying this because i KNOW it.

As stated before, people will leech and limmit there upload to 1kb and then the other users get no speed? Account will eventually be delete but user is using up other peoples SCARCE bandw and the very expensive server bw.. And we are not the idiots..

Yes there are free international ones, but they are a lot ****er than the ones that aint free.. Slower speeds / Worse release times / Way less content.. There are just many more things that are better about invite only..

Another reason for invite only on the local and international sites is because of POLICE.. They try to keep them out, protect there users and themself ( the server owners )

Once you get onto the sites you will see what we mean.. its a nice community of good guys.. The people that tune us are just the ones that are unable to join the community and are sour..

Ah but you see it's quite impossible for private sites to offer me higher speeds than I managed with a well setup connection on the public sites simply because I was almost stuck at my connection's MAXimum download rate the entire time downloading (after the initial connection and waiting a few minutes to connect to all seeds)

I've been on Blackcat, Bitsoup and numerous others, all just offered me elitist views, out-dated content and speeds no faster than I got anywhere else. Maybe you need to rethink the public sites you use, or your torrenting setup?

(Though it should be noted I'm NOW on iburst and can no longer achieve even 1kBs due to shaping :'(, but on my previous connection that had no shaping I was very easily hitting my limit)
 
FFS 10Gig local IS account for only 70 bucks vs my INT account I would gladly seed. Are there any local torrent sites actually worth anything?

10Gig wont get a seeder very far but a few of them will :p
