Local Webradio pilot

Listened to a couple of minutes through my iPhone (via my Iburst wifi) and it seems too be running fine. Will check again in peak times.

Hahaha yeah, 32kb/p != 32KB/s :P The quality should be 64kbps at the very least IMO, else it sounds quite bad :/

Thirty-two kilobits per second audio stream, with a bit more added for overhead.

The idea is to eventually have multiple themed stations each with a music genre and a specific text to speech news feed. Any suggestions?

The quality sounds fine to me...

This is so awesome!

Streaming it to my iPad and it works great!

How about a classical channel? (yeah yeah, but it's great for soothing little ones at bedtime)

It is only 15 MB an hour... (if my maths is right?)

There are many ideas for this channel but basically if you can't sustain the channel then you are in a kak coverage area and forget about VoIP!

I've got a high quality sound system hooked up to my pc, maybe that's why I can hear the difference in sound quality :P Sounds almost the same as when children walk around with music blaring out of their phones

Hows about 1 classical stream, 1 alternative stream, one jazz & blues stream and then one dance/house/drum and bass stream.

I know the alternative and dance/house/drum and bass streams will go over well with the gaming community.

We could put up a high quality stream but that will chew more bandwidth.

What about a low quality and high quality stream for each along with an hourly bandwidth consumption estimate for each stream. Then the listeners can decide which stream they'd prefer to use.
