With the advent of uncapped ADSL, and with the imminent obsolescence of local-only type accounts, the focus of Locality is slowly shifting towards the collection of data pertaining to local Internet domain and network infrastructure. With that said, the data we've collected over the past two years is now generously available via our API. So far this includes over 14,000 (growing daily) domains with DNS records pointing towards IPs advertised within South Africa, as well as detailed data on local routes and autonomous systems.
I'm hoping that other eager local developers will find a use for such data. Some examples I can think of would be; analytical applications, local IP neighbour type applications, IP owner information and network mapping, to name a few. In fact, I'd be interested to see what other uses are found.
If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to answer them here.
