Locating a rattle in the dash

Interior rattles are major annoying to find if you don't hit the source the first time.
I had a Navarra double cab that developed a buzz that sounded 100% like it was coming from the top of the dash where the radio is. Various people drove with me and tried to pin point the buzz, confirming it was from "somewhere where the dash meets the windscreen". In frustration I was also ready to start stripping. Then my wife found her misplaced sunglasses in the little cubby on the roof, behind the rear view mirror...and the buzz was gone. I still can't believe that the sound could travel so far and confuse so many people, including a Nissan tech, so completely even though they had their heads stuck in there.
Just glad I found the source before I started stripping :D
Strongs to you!!

Sometimes it is a wiring loom that is not properly insulated. I accidentally removed a sponge sleeve around the audio wiring loom in my Astra and it caused a rattle. Had to take it all apart to fit padding again which solved the problem.
