My question:
If you had 2 modems, would you be able to put both of them on the same line and log on with both , at the same time, with different accounts?

I have done something similar with a Telkom modem in bridged mode. 2 pcs connected to 1 modem & both pcs used its own account. that worked.

Now i have a netgear 834 that cant be used in bridged mode, but i have the same need. I have 2 accounts. When the 1 account is capped I would only like 1 pc to use it & my other pc to use my uncapped account.
Is this possible?
Any suggestions?

Can be done yes, with one modem. I have 2 PC's connected to an old Alcatel modem via a hub - log in from both at the same time using different accounts

It will not work with 2 modems, they use the same frequincy to talk on the line. You will only be able to connect with one, and when the other one flickers a light your connection will drop, and why do you need 2 modems on 1 line anyway? You can use 2 pcs with 2 diffrent logins, that works. I have that setup here at home. I connect with the capped account on my pc and with the uncapped on the server pc. The server pc has a proxy that takes the http traffic. That way I can get allot more out of my adsl and the 3gb.

But the problem is I have a DG834g. It doesnt allow bridged mode. You need that to connect from 2 pc's dont you?

>..As far as I can figured out, XP allows only 1x WAN Minport {PPPOE] to be created[Correct me if I am wrong], therefore only one stream of PPPOE to allowed on one line.

See devicemanager/Network Adapters & chose "Show Hidden devices".

I'm not sure if thats true, but its not relevant, I think.
I would be using 2 machines on 2 modems. also i wont be making ppoe connections on the pc's, the modems would make the connections.

You are correct, but sometimes one would just like to try things out to broader your knowledge, like under Network adapter you can disable them to see which has effect on your Modem/Router, your link will drop immediately.
