Logic question for Comp Sci (Boolean Algebra)

Hey all, I'm stuck with a logic Q for an assignment... can anyone help?

Use boolean algebra to simplify the boolean expression F. First determine F1 and F2, then simplify F1+F2 showing all the steps.
F1 = ywx' + yw'x'
F2 = (y' + xw)'
F(w, x, y) = F1 + F2

Any assistance appreciated!

We here will gladly help explain concepts and aid you in your learning. Nobody here however will simply do a question for you. Explain what you do understand, explain what you don't understand. What you think should happen, and what isn't making sense to you.

How about...

F1 = ywx' + yw'x'
= y(w + w')x'
= yx'
----
F2 = (y' + xw)'
= y''(xw)'
= y(x' + w')
---
F1 + F2
= yx' + y(x' + w')
= y(x' + x' + w')
= y(x' + w')

Anyone else care to confirm?

He asked a question like any other and I helped. Sometimes it helps to see the logic to figure it out for yourself.

Wrong. Being sarcastic and condescending is unhelpful on a forum. If you can't help or don't want to, just say so or don't waste time posting. Again, he's asking for help to solve a sum, not crib an exam. If he chooses not to study in the interim, having the answer to a sum is not going to get him through. I'm pretty sure he has books.

I remember when I was younger and Linux was still new, I used to ask how to do certain things. Stuff that a 10 second explanation would have given me.... and the selfish geeks would just tell me, "RTFM".

Thats why today I always make sure to help noobs to linux when I can.

Heh, probably the main reason I haven't really delved deeply into Linux. Some people simply don't have the time to try and decode a 100 page manual because... you know... we have jobs and stuff.

On the other hand, I don't believe in just providing answers. What's better is going through the process step by step, finding out where the person asking the question gets stuck and explain the concept in detail so that (s)he can attempt to solve the question themselves with you providing a guiding hand.

Best way to get an answer out of a linux guru is asking (by not asking) in this way: "Ah man, Windows is so much easier to find stuff in a file, with a search, linux it's impossible to use grep" BAM 50 top gurus blowing you with seriously amazing grep search possibilities.

Meh i was more than willing to help him , was trying to do it this way however ...
