I have a pc with the following symptoms .

This users laptop seems to have an issue when starting up off WIFI. When plugged in LAN, it boots fine, but when off LAN, it is super slow when it reaches cntrl+alt+del logon screen.
(even the win-logon sound stutters)

Other than the usual fixes like updating drivers , deleting and recreating Wifi profile ... what else be the cause of this , possible fixes to consider ?

Any shared drives mapped on the laptop? If so that might be the cause as it tries to map the drives while you logon, on my Windows 7 the WiFi only connects after the logon is complete and I'm on the Desktop thus it cannot connect to the shares during logon and takes a while to finally get to the Desktop, with a network cable it works perfectly.

I've upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago and the issue is now gone.

Reinstall to 10. There's still the free upgrade running, so you can do that then reinstall afterwards

This is an Enterprise domain PC so Win10 upgrade is not really an option at this stage .
