Sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum. I got my first webcam, the Logitech C300, and am a little disappointed as I found out that Logitech doesn't have a software option to reduce the quality of the video stream i.e. reduce the size of 1.3MP. Upload speed is 30 - 40KB/s when using the webcam with MSN (haven't tried anything else). There is no option in MSN to reduce quality.

Is there any way possible to some how reduce bandwidth usage? Apparently Logitech/MSN adjust your webcam quality to the potential of your webcam and line. Perhaps I could limit the amount of throughput given to MSN...?

Any help would be appreciated.

Been there, and yeah doesn't work. Trust me, I've Googled to smithereens!

It's not, but a few 20 minute sessions a week at ±40MB a pop (just on my upstream) is too much!

You won't find anything regarding this in Google, because most people want to improve their video quality rather than degrade it. Seeng as most of the USA and the rest of the world don't have caps, they can't be bothered to adjust the bandwidth allocated to video. Skype does dynamically monitor the conditions on your line and adjust the video bandwidth accordingly. It does however always try to maintain the best quality possible, so no luck there in degrading it manually.

Rather stay away from video if you think 40MB is too much. ;)

By the way, the video image frame is not running at 1.3MP (1280x1024) on you IM client - probably it is doing 320x240 or 640x480. The highest they can do at the moment is 720p (1280x720), but only with specific Skype certified HD webcams on both sides - with an upload speed requirement higher than any of SA's ADSL lines support at this time.
