For those of you that have this mouse, what are your thoughts on it? How comfortable would you say it is? Worth it? Also how do you find the scroll wheel?

G9

Comments welcome.

Thanks

I think it looks hideous.

Rather get the special edition G5.

Seriously.

And the funny thing is i find the G5 quite "ugly" myself. Not that the looks are a issue for me(or the actual point of the mouse). I quite like the funky design. If i want pretty i"ll stare at my copperhead;)

I like my G9. Best mouse I have ever owned.

Feel is personal but It feels fine for me. Don't really use the scroll wheel but when I do it works fine.

I would say its worth it. I like that I can change dpi on the fly and also select between 3 different profiles.

I had the rev1 G5 for 2 years. Then I bought the G9. I gave the G9 to my younger brother and bought myself the rev2 G5 after only 2 weeks of using the G9. Some people love it, I found it very uncomfortable to use, even with the "wide load" grip. Only way will be for you to actually try one somewhere I reckon.

Im assuming you mean for gaming purposes.

i think it depends on your grip. I use a finger grip, so with the smallest cover, im still not quite satisfied, but i do get the option of removing even that and working with the skeleton frame. so what it does offer then is three hand size options and grip styles to suit your needs.

i also like:
the weights
500+ polling ability
on the fly DPI

but i must say, the function that i was most sceptical about, was the scroll-wheel, and after using it to surf and with documents, i cant live without it.
It would deifintely be a criteria for me if i ever had to get another mouse.

but other than that, if you feel comfortable about the pricing [ i still feel a tinge of guilt having spent that amount on a mouse :( ] , and your hand is relatively averaged size, then i would say take it.

if you not gaming, then consider another option, but consider one with that scroll function.

just my 1 cent, im short today :)

Got the OCZ Dominatrix...

Upto 3200dpi, on the fly dpi settings change, looks NORMAL'ish ;) And also has 3 different modes... Weight adjustable... I dont see why anyone would anything more expensive, comes in at R550

I don't 100% like the toy-like look. Looks like a good mouse though.

Actually im sort of looking for a semi-all rounder. I definately want the gaming advantages, but that bloody scroll wheel has me hooked. I have a Mx Revolution mouse and that bloody wheel is just amazing. It may not be for everyone but i feel like im going back to the stone age when i use my copperhead for normal use.

So thats pretty much why im considering it. Hard choices.. *sigh*

EDIT: Anyone know of a physical shop in JHB that actually has them on their floor/premises..?

I'd go for the Steelseries Ikari ATM.. Lachesis giving too much problems (some break really soon) and the G9 is fugly..

Have a G5 SE myself, quite happy with it, although a blue mouse isn't always the best...

The Ikari is, as far as I know, only sold by www.dynax.co.za ATM... Great mouse though! And eye-candy too!

Yeah i've seen the steelseries stuff. Very nice i must say. The special edition WOW version looks awesome! But they are still quite heavily priced in SA.

+1 on the scroll wheel

Does your MX Revolution not satisfy your gaming requirements?
If not, then i think you've found your answer, cos the g9 would then definitely give you a solid all-round experience.

As for looks, sorry for the cliche, but its relative. I too wasnt too concerned about looks but once i got the G9, the quality of it, gave its looks a different dimension. I was never into pretty mice, and the G9 depending on your cover, has a kinda very mech-industrial feel, something you'de expect a cylon from battlestar to use. so its not pretty, but i dig it cos it stirs my imagination and takes different forms at different angles. but yeah, it's very relative. My gf loves it's looks, but then again she likes anything combat looking, even if its sci-fi combat looking :)

I must warn you though, i have found the feet/pads underneath to be wearing quicker than i'de like.

I would replace it, if they brought out a decent gaming-wireless version.

all the best man, let us know what you get and how you find it.

Thanks the input is much appreciated:)

The Mx as far as gaming goes...well its ok for strategy games etc but not for FPS's. My GF seems to not like it even for sims although i just think she likes my razer more because it fits her hand better.

The funny thing is i agree totally on the looks. It has a technological brick thing going for it :D And for me a sturdy look is never a bad thing. The Mx for me is a stunning mouse but ultimately its the functionality that has me hooked. I will miss its "highlight and press search button" function and the document flip button. *strokes Mx *:(

But the best trade-off looks to me to be obvious....now i just need to find a bloody store that has them so i can try out how it feels in my hand ( because thats unfortunately what irritates me about my copperhead--it never feels completely comfortable in my hand).

Oh and the footpads i found the same thing. Depends what surface you use it on....which is why i replaced my hard mousepad with a nice soft one.

well i got one
And i will admit it's not going to win any beauty contest.
But it preforms well and it's logitech so it's good quality. If you want a mouse that looks good and preform good i suggest go find yourself a razor.

Well beauty is subjective *slaps himself for saying it for the millionth time* and i sorta like the look....The razors just feel a little flimsy to me. I guess I just like a mouse with a bit of weight behind it.
