Logitech Harmony Remote site or software

Eureka ! An SA proxy server that works

Success !!!

M-Web's Technical Support came back and suggested I use the following proxy server:

dsl-cache.saix.net (which seems to reside at 196.43.9.21)
Port 8080

Tried it and it works fine (Eureka !), both from IE7 (http://members.harmonyremote.com) as well as from the Harmony app itself (v7.3.2)

Note: You can enter the proxy name (dsl-cache.saix.net) directly into both fields (IE7 and Harmony App) - no need to use the numerical IP.

I guess this will work well within SA - can't vouch for other locations (eg Singapore), but I'd be interested to hear if it works there too.

Many thanks to Charl Heinamann and the team at MWeb Tech Support - I'm in control again!

Thanks for the reply. I just bought my harmony remote a few days ago and battled to set it up using Cybresmart ADSL. FOrtunately, I was able to VPN from home to my work network and it worked through the work proxy. Slow, but eventually worked.

for some reason this is not working for me. How do I confirm that IE is using the proxy?

I have tried using dsl-cache.saix.net Port 8080 but it still does not work.

Any suggestions?

Are there any Harmony remote users still out there? I am taking delivery of mine on Thursday(Harmony 885),would like some help with the DSTV set-up of the remote.

I have read on quite a few forums that there is some problem getting the remote to work with DSTV! Have you got yours to work with DSTV?

it appears the software doesn't fully work with a proxy. i have been going around and around with tech support. it appears they dont' know what a proxy is...

here is what i have found here. the computer initially goes to the proxy, but then tries to go to the internet after that -- and never stops trying to go directly to the internet. which of course fails -- that is why you have a proxy to restrict what and who can go and where they can go.... the main or initial packets go to 74.201.85.121, then the packets not destined for 74.201.85.121 go to the proxy. it seems like the graphics will go to the proxy, but the main application will only go directly to 74.201.85.121. so i was able to get a hole in the firewall for that one address -- well for now they let me have it.

The solution to this nasty problem is using proxy 196.43.9.21 and port 8080
Enter this into the Harmony Icon on the system tray (right click on it) then goto preferences.

p.s. this will work if you on ADSL with Telkom

wow - seriously old. If you search the Logitech KB its also mentioned there.

Your first post and you dig out a 2 yo post! :)

I have just received my new 525. I also have the problem where the update gets stuck on 0%. I am using MTN 3G as my internet connection. Any ideas, please?
